Healthy Cheese Snacks You can add to Your Diet

You might believe that cheese is too fat to be inserted into a healthy diet. If so, think again, as there are many cheeses that can be wise choices for snacks. Even if you are trying to lose weight, there is no reason to stay away from the cheese snacks you will find below, as they can all play a part into a healthy diet.

Eating Cheese by Itself

The problem with eating cheese is that most people do so by placing it on bread, or eating it with other carbohydrates. That is when it becomes too much, and you can gain weight. However, eaten alone, they can actually help you to lose some extra fat, as they are quite filling. Therefore, you won’t feel the need to eat again soon, once you have had a cheese snack.

There are a variety of cheeses that have been manufactured in small portions, which are friendly to your diet, if you only eat a few pieces. Gouda, Cheddar and Pepper Jack can all be found in this format, to name but a few of the cheeses available. Make sure that the manufacturers haven’t added any powder or breadcrumbs, and feel free to enjoy your cheese snack every day, if you want to.

Stringles

This is another way to eat cheese, without adding to your weight. These cheese strings are packaged in single portions, which help you to eat them in moderation. Look for the ones with no coloring added to them, and made with organic milk. You should be looking at under 10 grams of proteins per stick and about 80 calories. They are also quite practical, as you can keep them in your purse or your work bag, so you can snack on them whenever you feel like it. Some varieties are: Cheddar, Skim Milk and Colby Jack.

Cheese Flavoured Microwave Popcorn

Just by reading the title of this snack, some may already be horrified. However, all food can be good to eat, as long as the ingredients are right. That is the case with some cheese flavoured popcorn. In truth, most popcorn snacks are low in calories. The problem is that manufacturers usually fill them with preservatives, which are not good for your health.

There are clean versions of microwaved popcorn, which are low on fat, calories and carbohydrates. Some companies even push the process farther, by placing the product in a recyclable pouch, for people who take special care of the environment (And shouldn’t we all!). Look for them by reading the ingredients and their nutritional content. You will find some with Hickory Smoked Cheddar as well as Parmesan and Rosemary flavour, but there are a variety of different cheese flavours in the market today.

Mr. Cheese O’s

If you want to cheat a little (but not too much), you can decide to go for a snack of Mr. Cheese O’s. They are gluten free and contain close to no carbs. Therefore, you can enjoy them no matter what diet you are on. That said, they can be quite addictive, so you have to remain aware of the quantity you are eating. A whole bag would bring you about 150 calories, so it is not suggested to eat more than one-third at a time, and even that is quite a lot for a snack. The beautiful thing about Mr. Cheese O’s is that they actually use real Cheddar cheese.

Raw Cheezy Herb Truffle Snip Chips

This is the healthy kind of snack you want to go for, when you feel like having cheese flavour in your mouth. This vegan snack delivers in terms of nutrition, but also in taste. Having these chips replace regular ones, won’t bother anyone, but it will make them healthier. The coating is made with organic coconut and parsnip, providing a good amount of vitamins C, K and E, while being a great source of fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids. The coconut will also enhance the metabolism and help burning fat inside the body.

Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese Bars (by Cabot)

If available in your region, Cabot makes snack bars, with a sharp cheddar taste and almost no carbohydrates at all. They are the most nutritious of the list and contain no added sugar. Yet, the taste is still rich and decadent, melting in the mouth. Just a small portion of it can be quite filling and will keep you away from eating again too rapidly. It is a good source of calcium, which prevents from osteoporosis. The suggested amount per day is of 1000mg, which you would fill by eating two bars.

Go On: Have a Cheese Snack!

Cheese snacks don’t need to be avoided, as you have now learned by reading this article. In fact, the calcium contained in cheese is important to the body. The best way to snack on cheese is still to eat it by itself, in its pure form. You then get all the benefits from a cheese snack without the danger of gaining weight, by adding too many calories to your diet.
