Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill Cookbook
Just in time for the holiday season comes Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill Cookbook
. When I heard that Flay had another book on the way, I rolled my eyes. Doesn't the man have enough books, tv shows, and publicity? But I was pleasantly surprised at the book, as it really tones down Flay's grilling personality and focuses hard on some of the wonderful southwestern dishes that he offers at Mesa Grill.
Sure, there are grilled recipes for steaks, pork, and other game, but there are also wonderful recipes for the delectable sauces and relishes that you often see Flay prepare on Iron Chef America. I like this alot since I never know what to plate with the pork tenderloins that I grill in the backyard.
Some of my favorites in this book are the the blue crab corn cakes, the chile-honey glazed salmon and coffee rubbed filet mignons. All the recipes are approachable and many of them make use of the grill.
The Mesa Grill Cookbook is not just a celebration of beautiful southwestern cuisine. The recipes are simple and easy to prepare and the instructions are simply laid out, making Mesa's menu accessible to the home chef.
It's short, too. Only about 150 recipes total. As you may know, I like that in a cookbook. As with most successful cookbooks, The Mesa Grill Cookbook is peppered with gorgeous full-color photographs of the food and brightly colored text. It looks so good, I sometimes wish there were smell-o-vision.
I am pleasantly surprised by this book. It's short, sweet, to the point, and the recipes are can-do recipes. I definitely recommend this to Bobby Flay fans as well people looking for Holiday gift ideas.
