What in the Heck? #20

Greetings, quiz junkies. After a year long hiatus, everyone's favorite weekly quiz is back. If you don't know this is all about, perhaps you should visit some of the past editions of What in the Heck? to get caught up. Also, it might be helpful if you check out the rules and regulations.
This week's item comes straight from decades past. Somewhere, someone thought this would be a good idea. It's a long, thin plastic handle with a small stainless steel ball at the end.

Leave your answer in the comments. The first person to get it right wins a bottle of Big Daddy Jakes BBQ Rub and a bottle of Aw Shit seasoning.
WE HAVE A WINNER! Bill gets it right. Yes, Bill was the first to answer correctly. It's called a Tap-Icer. This was a home bar tool from a long time ago. You held a large ice cube in your hand and used the Tap-Icer to break it up.
Incidentally, I tried it out and I nearly blinded myself with ice shards.

It's used to break up ice cubes. You put the ice in your hand and smack it with the stainless ball, swinging it at the ice by holding the handle in your other hand.

Damn. Bill's right. It's called a "Tap-Icer".
"Simply hold a cube in the palm of your hand, grip the tapper by the flexible handle, and lightly tap the ice."

IT'S AN ICE TAPPER. YOU USE IT TO BREAK ICE IN YOUR HAND. I WIN!

Ditto what Bill said.
I've used one... and the experience was very underwhelming, and messy. Rarely do I have a need to crush only a couple ice cubes.
