Impossible Cheesburger Pie

This recipe come straight from the latest edition of the Betty Crocker Cookbook (with a few alterations). In the end, the final product turned out more like a quiche, as the two eggs in the batter mixture made for quite the custard-y texture. I added some black pepper and some hot sauce to the beef mixture for added flavor.

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup Bisquick baking mix
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 Tsp. salt
  • 1/2 Tsp. black pepper
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 Tsp. Hot sauce

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray.

In a large skillet, brown the beef and onion together and add the salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Drain all excess oil. Pour beef mixture into the pie plate. Top with the shredded cheese.

In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and Bisquick. Pour over the top of the beef and cheese mixture. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
