RUB BBQ Chopper

There are not many words to express feelings toward this:

OK ... so it seems I would have to express some feelings. This chopper was built by Orange County Choppers, of American Choppers fame with Andrew Feischel of RUB BBQ in New York City. It is a promotional piece to help RUB launch its new restaurant in Las Vegas. To think that either the bike or the pit would be functional is an exercise in futility. Most of the concept bikes that OCC creates are not meant for the road. They are meant to be looked at.

Take some time to check out the story here.

Hmmm...it doesn't look like it would serve either of its purposes well. It will be too big, awkward, and heavy to ride well as a motorcycle. And the design puts the fender right where I would want to be standing if I was doing the smoking.

Your meat will definitely get smoky, though, with the chimney going down before making an upturn, the smoke will back up in the pit.

I think I will stick to my smoker in the yard. It works better and cost me a WHOLE lot less.

I don't believe Orange County Choppers is known for making really functional bikes. It's just a promotional piece for RUB and for OCC (American Chopper).

Steve

True, but what a waste of a smoker!

I did read the article. I just have a hard time understanding the thought process that goes on in the minds of some people. I could think of a lot of things I would have rather have spent that money on.

waste smashte. who gives a crap? This is true OCC eye candy. Just look at the paintwork on those fenders. And the smokestack is the actual engine exhaust.
If I want a smoker I can go to Home Depot. If I want a rideable motorcycle I can go to my Yamaha dealer, which I did (my 98 cubic inch Roadstar now has 22,000 miles on it). If I want fantasy eyecandy, I go to American Choppers.
Adam, you called it like it is-not practical for either purpose, but it is pure promotion, probably meant for a vendor exhibition sitting on a revolving turntable with halogen lights shining on it.

People, people, you're missing the point. They're sharing a dream with us. What if you could tool down Route 66 on a motorcycle, reach back and open a panel, and eat smoked brisket?! It's America, man...America on a motorcycle.

El mojay

you're right, Jim. They're sharing a dream. I dream of having paint work like that :)

Jim,
You hit it on the head. I love the idea, Its the American dream. Ride on.

Considering who I'm told designed the smoker...I suspect it works fairly well. The paint? It looks beautiful up close. Wait for the show to come out and see what you think.

Very good site. Thanks.
