500th Entry. Happy Birthday To ME

For many months now, I have been hovering around the 500 entry mark. Technically I could have gone over that number long ago, but I like to keep out of date or inactive posts trimmed out of the archives to keep the whole site as fresh as possible.

But time, it would seems has caught up to MIA as well as myself. For today, I turn 32 years old. It's not a momentous occasion, but combine it with the age of this site, and its 500th post, I think it is time to celebrate.

Look what my wife got me for my birthday:

A "Santoku" knife. I can already tell that this one will replace the Henckel's as my favorite knife in the drawer. Thanks Wifey. I am a very very happy home chef.

And what a fine "chief" you have become!

I dunno. I spent some time handling an 8-inch Henckel chef's knife and I was mighty impressed. Maybe even better balance that the Messermeister.

Oh wow, that knife just makes me happy inside! I want one for my very own.

Dave, I know what you mean. There's a certain weighty feel to the Henckel's that is very comforting. However, this Santoku is very balanced, the blade is light, and the grooves help prevent suction.

I don't know. I love them both.

I'm a little late but...Happy Birthday! My husband gave me a nice Wusthof santoku for Valentine's Day last year and it has definitely become my favorite knife! It was hard to get used to at first because it didn't have the heft of my Henckel's chef's knife. but now I find myself reaching for it more than anything else. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours just as much!
