Hot & Spicy Sauerkraut Topping

If you are a tailgater or just a lover of putting sauerkraut on stuff, you may want to try this jacked up topping made with sauerkraut. Personally, I think the addition of 3 tablespoons of Tabasco really makes this topping sing.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium onions, cut in half and sliced thin
  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 1 cup Silver Floss or Krrrrisp Kraut Sauerkraut
  • 1 tsp. dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp. white pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce

Saute onions in butter until soft and lightly caramelized. Add Sauerkraut. When mixture is warm, add remaining ingredients. Bring to simmer and cook until thickened.

Suggestions: Serve as a side or topping for bratwursts, hot dogs, pork, chicken, or hamburgers.

I know this is going to taste amazing! Have had a craving for sauerkraut for some weeks now. To the market tomorrow, then some hot and spicy dogs! Fab!

Just finished two dogs and am on my second glass of milk! Being somewhat spoiled, coming from NY and all, this is one good sauce. Forehead has a nice sweat going, tastebuds tingling, and get wait to get to the pudding!
