The Men in Aprons legacy continues to age today. My son turned the big Oh-Four yesterday. Here's the cook in training, picking some home grown bell peppers. Aidan is a very smart individual. He loves to help cook and get messy with food. Just the way it should be. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I recently found a cool web site for food bloggers by food bloggers. It's called Food Blog S'cool. It's been around for a year and a half and is moderated by Sam of Becks and Posh. FBS contains handy and helpful hints for your food blog, covering topic such as food photography, blog application tech support, and advertising. If you're a beginner blogger there are some handy and helfpul tips for getting things rolling in the right direction.
Remember what it was like to be in 8th grade, writing 500 word essays for Mrs. Thoma in 5th period? The BBQ Guy is holding an essay contest for the best essay about BBBQ. Here are the rules:

2. Entries may be accompanied by a photograph.
3. All entries will be published on the bbq blog.
4. Entries must be submitted NLT Nov. 30, 2006.
5. Winners will be announced by Dec. 15, 2006.
My articles on making an omelette in a Ziploc bag continue to reign supreme as the most popular on this web site. Thanks to Hungry-Girl this week, that trend continues, with lots of talk of plastic chemical vapors, debunking urban legends on Snopes, and plenty of folks trying out the phenomenon for themselves. You can see the original post here, and then the follow-up post which has pictures of the cooking process.
If you have made a Ziploc Omelette for yourself, let us know. If you have pictures of your experience, send them to meninaprons@gmail.com. I'll post them here on the site.
The Food Network has been ramping up advertising for the Iron Chef America battle with Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, Rachael Ray, and Giada de Laurentiis. The promos looks great, and I think Giada may just have the edge, being paired with Bobby Flay. The Mario Batali factor might be hard for them to overcome, but Rachael Ray just might bomb the whole thing right when she tells Alton Brown that their dishes will be "Yumm-O." The chairman can only hope that the term "E-V-O-O" is never used.

Finally, just a quick reminder to get in your entries for the Carnival of the Grill. The deadline is November 27th. This is a blogging event whereby you, the blogger, write an article and/or cook something related to grilling, post it on your blog, then submit it to Blog Carnival. For more information, check out the carnival info page, or go straight to Blog Carnival and submit.
