What in the Heck #18

UPDATE: We have a winner! Tom Oakes guess (or researched) correctly that this device is a Tomato Knife. This knife slices ripe tomatoes neatly and cleanly, without squashing them. The scalloped steel blade glides effortlessly through firm skins and juicy interiors, producing thin, uniform slices. Because the blade has a broad, rounded tip, you can transfer delicate tomato slices from cutting board to serving plate with ease. I routinely look through Williams-Sonoma's online catalog for the latest in useless, ubiquitous, or uni-tasking kitchen item. This one is great. It says, "Don't be stupid and use a regular knife. Use the tomato knife!" Sometimes you have to wonder about the people coming up with these ideas over at W-S. Oh well, stay tuned in a couple of weeks for another episode of What in the Heck?

Welcome back to another exiciting edition of Men in Aprons' What in the Heck? If you are just joining us for What in Heck, let me fill you in on what's up. This is a bi-monthly contest (right now) whereby I post an interesting kitchen, food, or cooking item and you guess what it is. If you are the first person to correctly answer, then you win a prize. Right now, Big Daddy Jakes Creative Pepper Products is sponsoring the contest and has provided me with their barbeque sauce to give away as prizes. For your edification, please review the rules and regulations of the contest before you throw out your answer.

Incidentally, if you are reading this right now via your email subscription, you are probably too late. Just another reason to keep it tuned into meninaprons.net. Sorry!

This week, we feature a very interesting contraption. This little gadget has a purpose, and it's named after its purpose. Be the first person to tell me what it is and you'll win a FREE bottle of Big Daddy Jake's Barbeque Sauce. Please leave your answer in the comments. I will not accept answers via email.

Nope! The answer isn't here you sneaky webby, you.
