Cooking For US Launches User Submission Feature

The new food website, Cooking For US has launched it's new user submission functionality. You can now log, create an account, and submit your own recipes for people to cook and review. As you know, I've been writing short articles for the site for a while now, something that brings me great pleasure. Sean Smith and the whole team at CFU have been working tirelessly to get their system up and running.

Here's how it works: sign up for a free account, and you can submit your own recipes to the site. You get published! With your account, you can rate other recipes, browse the catalog, and write reviews. Again, I like the idea of Cooking For US. Food and Cooking is for everyone, not just the foix gras-loving elite.

Looks like CFU has the potential to be a big competitor in the world of food sites, especially the sites like Recipezaar. I'm not sure if it's the way they want to go, but with the popularity if social networking on the web, CFU could do to take some notes from sites like MySpace. Make it a social place to be ... with forums, profiles, and blogs ... but all based on food. It's hard to say who is going to win out in that category. FoodCandy already does that. We'll see which can stand the test of time.

Incidentally, my latest article entitled "Cradle to the Gravy"is up on CFU. If you get a chance, go sign up for a free account and give it a review and rating. Even if you just say "aweseome!"

Good Southern style gravy is something you might have learned from your "Mama" or grandma. I don't think there is any way to really duplicate it but to watch them and experiment. My Mama's and Mamaw's gravy was country, straight from the Appalacian Kentucky mountains. They raised their chickens, cooked 'em up, and made gravy for the bisquits. Good "down-home" cookin comes from watching, helping and experimenting in the kitchen.
