I guess I need to get a TiVo. I never seem to be able to catch these shows. It seems that every time I'm in front of the TV and remember to check the food channel they are running some show that is showing me how bubblegum or some such is made.

I still like Emeril a lot, but I do agree that his trick has gotten old. I can anticipate with complete accuracy when he's going to break into the bits:

- we're really cookin' here
- cable company/smell-o-vision
- use your knobs
- put that on the bumper of a car and I'd eat it
- put some of this in my pocket and ride the subway
- etc, etc.

It's as if he's a comedian who performs for the studio audience alone, assuming they've never seen his act before, and completely oblivious to the TV audience that has seen the same thing a thousand times. He needs to hire Bruce Vilanch to write some fresh stuff.

The little noises he makes in order to fill the silence when he's doing something that requires some level of concentration are particularly annoying.

Regardless, I'd rather watch Emeril make boiled squirrel that listen to that simp Marc Summers explain how gummi bears are made.

It's sad really. I was so intrigued with Emeril in the beginning, and now, I can barely stand to listen to 5 minutes of him. He's actually been "old" to me for the last 3 years. So, my opinion on the poll is...his show has been old for a long time. I think he's still on air because he is an icon at the Food Network. ICONs fall hard. He must have some following that's keeping the show alive, huh? I do hope his new fans enjoy him as much as I did in the beginning.
