How to Peel a Tomato in a Few Seconds

Tags: how-to, tomato

This is the easiest way to peel your tomatoes without destroying the meat underneath by cutting or endless pulling and tearing. It's the score-blanch-peel method. Do not skip the ice bath step. This stops the cooking process.

  1. Score each tomato by cutting two 'X' marks into the skin on each end.
  2. Drop tomatoes into rapidly boiling water for 30-45 seconds, no more.
  3. Remove tomatoes to an ice water bath. Cool for a minute
  4. Easily peel away the skin at the X's. The tomatoes are now yours to do your culinary bidding
