Adam's Pit Master Ribs

Posted on September 27, 2006 by adam
Category: Grilling & Smoking

Just a little bit of barbecue porn for you this morning. Last weekend, I got a chance to barbeque some ribs that were still in the cryovac from the last smoke. This time, however, I wanted to try out Big Daddy Jakes new Pit Master BBQ Rub. After tasting the rub, I new that it had to be mixed with some brown sugar. We like sweet ribs in our family, and the PIt Master rub was a little too salty just on it's own. The rub does contain brown sugar, but not nearly enough for our taste.

I mixed 1/2 cup of brown sugar with 5 heaping tablespoons of the Pit Master then rubbed it generously all over the rack of ribs. The result was very good. TheWife like it a lot, since the rub wasn't quite as sweet as I usually make it. I like them really sweet, she only wants a hint of the sweet stuff. So there has to be a balance. All in all a fine product for good barbecue.

adam, that smokey pink color of your rib mastery never ceases to amaze me. just gorgeous.

damn I want ribs. Amaandaaa!

on a side note, it's funny that pepper by itself has more votes than salt by itself. I mean, cmon, I'm a diehard pepper lover, but without salt all the pepper in the world isn't going to make something taste good.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Can somebody get me a bib? I think I've dribbled drool all over.

Adam, those are just beautiful. I am a down-home, (originally- down south) food eater. ;) The ribs make me want to get my fingers all bar-b-queie. (Is that a word?)

Yes, it can be a word if you want it. It's kinf of like the F-word or "Smurf." It's all parts speech.

"We barbequed some barbeque at the barbeque."

I think you have graduated to at a minimum "journeyman"! I have to taste those lovely ribs to see if you have made "Pit Master"...If you didn't buy them trimmed that way, then you did a beautiful job of trimming yourself! That in itself is an art form!

Way to go, next time you try the rub, use it on a brisket! Then I will give you the secret to my smoked turkeys!!!!! Trust me, yo' Momma (not even yo' Grandmamma) never made a turkey this good!
