Sweet Scones

I've never made an icing before in my life. This was the day that all changed. This is the basic sweet scone recipe. You can really add anything you want to it. I just felt like making an icing.

Ingredients
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 Tsp. Baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1/3 cup butter, cut into small pieces
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup confectioner's sugar
- 3-4 Tsp. water
- 1/4 Tsp. vanulla extract

Heat oven to 425 Degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a cookie sheet. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. Add the butter pieces and mash together with fingers until the the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the milk to form a soft dough. Knead lightly.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 3/4 of an inch. Using a knife or sharp straight edge, cut out about 8 scones. I like to make a large circle, then cut out 8 wedges. Place them evenly apart on the cookie sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

In a separate bowl, start with the confectioner's sugar and add a little bit of the water at a time until a smooth icing is formed. Add the vanill extract and whisk again. You can brush the icing straight onto the cooled scones.

Yum! How great for your first try!

The scones look great. As an aspiring food picture taking type amateur, what set up do you use? I'm thinking of switching to a new camera by next year, and have an idea of what I want... just curious what you use.
