Domestic Goddesses

I just got off the phone with Jeff Gordinier of Details Magazine. He is writing a story about the emergence of the "domestic goddess" in pop culture, television, and fashion. Jeff found my site on the web and after searching through the Giada photo archive, he emailed me to ask my opinion on the subject.

We talked about domestic TV goddesses of the past such as Barbara Biliingsley and Elizabeth Montgomery and how hot they were. We also discussed reasons why cooking and home improvement programs from 20 or 30 years ago never had a central sexy figure like Giada or Page Davis (Trading Spaces).

Jeff told me that he actually interviewed Giada about the same subject, to which I replied, "dude! why didn't you conference me in?!"

I was really happy the way the interview went and I think Jeff for the opportunity to give my viewpoint. The article will be in the October issue of Details Magazine, slated to hit newsstands in mid-September. I'll keep you posted when it drops.

Very cool! Did ya'll come to a decision, on why hot chicks weren't on TV cooking shows 20+ years ago? Maybe I should wait to read the article...

There's a book called "Where the Girls Are" that may have some interesting information and references.
Here's the amazon link:
