Basic Sweet Pizelles
My family and I are selling our house right now, which has prompted us to clean everything. This includes the pantry, where our Pizelle maker resides. TheWife and I received this Pizelle maker for our wedding, 9 years ago. And here it has sat, unused for all that time. She even forgot about it, thinking it was an old hot sandwich press that I used to own before we got married. But after using this Pizelle Master, I am kind of addicted. Pizzelles are kind of like really thin cookies. They come out of the machine soft, but harden within 20 seconds. One cool thing you can do is wrap them into a cone shape and hold it until it hardens. Bingo! Instant waffle cone. Ingredients In a bowl, beat the eggs together and add the vanilla. While whisking, add the melted margarine. Slowly add the sugar and incorporate it until smooth. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Add the flour mixture slowly to the egg mixture and beat together until smooth. Heat up the pizelle maker until the light turns off, then drop the batter onto the plates a teaspoon at a time. Cook for 90 seconds then remove. Be careful ... they cook fast, so if you smell burning, it's time to get them out. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle chocolate sauce. You can top them with anything ... whipped cream, ice cream, strawberries, chocolate chips, caramel sauce ... anything. Here's what a Pizzelle Maker Looks Like from Amazon.com. I LOVE these! We'd get these around the holidays from our Italian friends and they'd never last long with me around ;). They are great with a little anise flavoring too. Great photo!

I have one and I love to do these at Christmas time when the time allows. Some neighbors of ours in Austin introduced us to them back in the late '70's.

Meant to add, try almond flavoring for an extra added bonus. Mmmmm!
