Ever Cooked with Beer?

The poll for this past week is now closed. Have you ever cooked with beer? The answer was a resounding yes from the Men in Aprons readership. 88% of the people that voted said heck yes. This brings a tear to my eye. I'm so proud of you guys. Suprisingly, three people voted "no, that's disgusting." I was really surprised about that. Beer is so wonderful and good!

Next time you reach for that bottle of wine to deglaze a pan, stop and ask yourself if beer would do well with what you're cooking. Yes, It might foam up a bit, but it could add a bold flavor to your dish.

This weeks poll is going to concern with types of beer that you prefer. I want to know what you're drinking. Feel free to comment and let me know the exact brand. Two of my favorite beers are Sam Adams and Dos Equis.

Lots of IPA's. Pyramid's Thunderhead is my current favorite. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a perennial favorite. If you can find it (you probably can't on the East Coast), Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot Ale is a terrific seasonal, usually out in early December for a month or so. Corona with lime and a sliver of jalapeno works very nicely in the summer.

Working in the yard = Bud Light bottles

...and of course: Heineken
