Back to Basics Smoothie MakerThere is a difference between our regular blender and this Back to Basics Smoothie Maker (aff). One makes our daquiris and the other doesn't. I had my reservations about this smoothie maker when it first showed up on our countertop. I figured it was just another infomercial product like the Magic Bullet. But after sipping that first glass of frozen concoction that helps me hang on .... I was hooked. I have to admit that we did not pay for this device. It was given to us by the in-laws. And it has become the best possible give that we could have received for no reason whatsoever. I also have to admit that we have never made a "smoothie" in this device. Mostly we use it to make frozen alcoholic beverages and get drunk.
The Back to Basics Smoothie Maker works perfectly with those cans of frozen mixers you can get at the grocery store. We're in love with the Bacardi Rum Runner mixer. To make a batch, add one can of mixer. One half can of rum, and enough ice to get it nice and smooth. The dispenser spout is really the main feature that sets this smoothie maker apart from a blender. The blades do a very good job of chopping up the ice to a very smooth consistency, but the dispenser keeps me coming back for more. We have made margaritas from scratch, Rum Runner mixers, and strawberry daquiris. It just works. And now every time the mother-in-law comes over, she absolutely has to have one. Ever since the Cabo-Wabo well dried up, the rum-runner mixers must flow. Check it out: The Back to Basics Smoothie Maker (aff). Trackback URL: http://www.meninaprons.net/mt/mt-tb.cgi/48 |

Ha! Good stuff...and thanks for the info. I've wondered how well those things work for making/dispensing "real" drinks.
