Mountain Men Alike

As I was doing some research on the history of Lodge Cast Iron Cookware, I noticed that the Lodge Manufacturing Company web site has a section for recipes. Upon perusing the selection, I came across someone else's version of a Mountain Man's Breakfast. Who woulda thunk it?

Gosh, now I'm feeling all ashamed because I think theirs is probably better suited for a mountain man than my own stove-top version. I think, however, that there is room in this world for both recipes.

On a related note, if you don't have a cast iron skillet in your kitchen you should go invest in one. It is the most used cooking utensil in our kitchen, and if you season it properly and understand how to use it, you'll find yourself in love with yours too. You'll notice that the cast iron skillet is number one on our essentials list.

Proper seasoning of cast iron is a subject I'd like to hear more about. Does it mean more than just oiling and heating the pan?
