Super Smorgasbord

I would like take this opportunity for us all to bow our heads in a solemn moment of mourning that my Dallas Cowboys will not be playing in the playoffs this year. ::sigh::

That said, let me now say this: Are you ready for some heartburn?!! It's football playoffs time, which means it's time to break out the Tums because we're about to stuff our stomachs with the most acid-inducing food this side of the Atlantic. That's the way it is and we like it! Weeeee Like It!

This month, we will be exploring all things tailgating, football watching, and appetizer-ing. And what a better way to cheer on your favorite football team than to belch and brapppp! your way through the playoffs.

You know, whenever my friends I get together to watch football on a Sunday afternoon, we usually just order pizza and snack on chips. But when the playoffs roll around, most of us like to take our munchies to the next level. We're talking chili, queso, baked goods, dips, quick and easy sandwiches, and let's not forget the beverages. But maybe this is the 4th year in a row that you've been asked to bring a snack to the game and all you can think of is that boring old standby, chips and and store-brand french onion dip. Boo!

Don't get me wrong, my taste buds do often yearn for the creamy flavor of french onion piled atop a ridged crisp, but sometimes you just need something better, Bosephus. The world is full of some really easy to make dip recipes that will leave your guests or friends wanting more .... and perhaps the recipe.

This month we will also go in-depth into Chili, Queso ... hell, Chili con Queso, and other football favorites that make the season bright. Happy football, everyone!

That giggling you heard during your moment of silence was me. My bad. I really, really tried.
